Reston, May 28, 2021 – As we enter the Memorial Day weekend, which signals the unofficial start of Summer, Amyx wishes to honor our Armed Forces men and women who laid down their lives to defend our Constitution, our freedom and our way of life. This is a time for all of us to remember the sacrifices of America’s Servicemen and women, both past and present.
In the 1860s, Memorial Day was known as Decoration Day in remembrance of soldiers who died during the Civil War. Decoration Day became known as Memorial Day honoring all service members who died in the line of duty. In 1971, Memorial Day was recognized as a federal holiday occurring on the last Monday in May.
William Schaefer, President and CEO of Amyx, Inc., said, “this Memorial Day weekend is a special one and highly anticipated by many as we begin to turn the tide on the pandemic. As we start to resume some of the routines that we could not follow during the past year, please take a moment to remember and honor those who lost their lives in service to our Nation. I would also like to thank all of the currently serving Service members and Veteran Amyx employees who continue to serve.”
