Reston – February 21, 2022 – Throughout the 1800s, people used George Washington’s birthday to honor the President that shaped our Country as well as his legacy.  In 1971, Richard M. Nixon signed an executive order passing the Uniform Monday Holiday Act.  This law shifted Washington’s Birthday, Columbus Day, Memorial Day, and Veterans’ Day to Monday.  With the date landing in the middle of Lincoln’s and Washington’s birthday, it became known as Presidents’ Day.

This year, Presidents’ Day is celebrated on February 21st – when we pause, reflect and pay tribute to former Presidents for their leadership. As we honor George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, the Presidents whose birthdays we commemorate, let us also remember our Nation’s men and women in uniform, our dedicated civilians and contract employees, and our families that all continue to defend the rights and principles for which these men dedicated their lives.

On behalf of the Amyx senior leadership team, I wish everyone a safe and enjoyable Presidents’ Day Holiday weekend.
